Exploring Political Participation in University Yearbooks
College Yearbooks are a powerful tool for engaging students around the topic of political participation. These archival resources tell the story through a lens that is familiar to the student, making what they see more relevant. I wrote a paper about this lesson that is published in the Journal of Political Science Education. Check out my blog post below about the lesson as well as the archived yearbook database I created to track the availability of yearbooks throughout the country.
Yearbook Archive Database
This database is a list of digitized yearbook archives. Schools without an identified archive may still have a yearbook. Some schools have not digitized books, but the physical books can be found in the library. The dates represent the first book available in the archive and the last book available. Between these dates there may be years where books were not published or are not found in the archives. The archival process may be ongoing and the years available could change. This list is not the complete universe of American universities. With your help I hope to add to this list with additional archives and yearbooks. If you identify any errors or would like a school added to the archive, please complete the following form. https://forms.gle/2TUFMgZHchGrJ4K97
